The Lookfor is a directory for small businesses.

Who we list

You can list your business here if it has fewer than 500 people and isn't owned by a bigger company. It doesn't matter where you are or whether you have a storefront. Freelancers are welcome, and so are franchises, as long as the owner runs the location.

Who we don't list

• Big companies. If your business has 500 or more people, or a bigger company owns it, please list it somewhere else. Big companies already have plenty of places to be found.
• Businesses that hurt people. We won't list scams, predatory lenders, or products made to work against the people who buy them.
• Businesses that take away people's rights. We won't list surveillance tools, data brokers, or services that help others track people or shut them out.
• Businesses that aren't real. We remove spam and listings for businesses that don't exist.

The grey areas

Crypto and gambling are harder calls. We decide those one at a time, mostly by asking whether the people who buy from the business end up better off. We'll get some of them wrong, so if you think we got yours wrong, tell us.

How review works

A person reviews every new listing before it goes live, usually within a week. You only need to submit once.

If your listing isn't approved and you want to know why, get in touch. We may also remove a listing later if we learn something we didn't know when we approved it.
