Susan and Steve Haubrich met at Baker Beach in San Francisco, where Susan was a chef at some of the city’s top restaurants and Steve was working at Internet start-ups. They married on New Year’s Eve in Carmel, California and moved to Austin, Texas where Steve worked in Consumer Financial Services and Susan as an interior designer. After lasting 8 very hot summers, they moved to Portland in October 2020 during COVID and the Oregon wildfires. They began renovating a 100-year-old Craftsman house, planted a vegetable garden, and opened three small businesses. Steve also worked as a late-night DJ on XRAY FM. 1919 Neighborhood Lounge is their vision of what a great neighborhood lounge should be. A comfortable and inviting space where friends and neighbors can hang out and relax, have a great meal and quench their thirst while listening to some great music.
