Justa Pasta was founded in Hood River, Oregon in 1991 by a couple of windsurfers (Roland and Dave) who loved pasta and wanted to make a living so that they could windsurf whenever beautiful whitecaps appeared on the mighty Columbia River. Business grew and they made a ton of pasta (literally every week) and they never ever sailed. Justa Pasta moved to Portland in the Spring of 1995. The next 20 plus years have been all about the journey and to quote Roland: "I always let Justa Pasta become who she wanted to be ... there was no great plan ... there still isn't." While homemade pastas continue to be the main focus, the menu includes many seasonal options (mostly on the special board) such as fresh wild fish, “Mary's free range” chicken, and seasonal mushrooms.
