Our services include custom framing, stitch & block mounting, canvas build & stretch, computerized mat cutting, dry mounting & laminating, custom shadow boxes, art consulting & installation, custom mirrors, and jersey & sports memorabilia framing. Owner Mel Townsend began framing in Washington DC in 1995 where she managed a custom frame shop and gallery for seven years. Returning to her roots in 2002, she moved back to Portland, OR where she began working for Art Media. For ten years she worked for Art Media and she started and managed the framing department. When Art Media was sold to a corporate art supply store, Mel decided it was as good a time as any to open her dream shop. The goal at the heart of Mel's Frame Shop is to keep it small, keep it local and keep it real for the community.
