The Mt. Hood Brewing Co. opened in January 1991 in the alpine village of Government Camp, Oregon, serving locally-produced beers and hearty pub fare in a family-friendly atmosphere. It is owned by R.L.K. and Company, the same folks who have been operating historic Timberline Lodge since 1955. In October 1992, the newly constructed ten barrel brewery rolled out its first barrel under the watchful eye of Brewmaster Jon B. Graber. The Mt. Hood Brewing Co. is named for a brewery that originally operated in Portland, Oregon from 1905 to 1913 during the pre-prohibition heyday of American brewers. In 2018, construction began on a brewery expansion, adjacent to the existing brewery and brewpub in Government Camp. With the addition of two fermentation tanks, brite beer tanks, dry and cold storage, Mt. Hood Brewing Co. has doubled production. Cold and packaged beer storage plus a new packaging area has enabled us to offer a greater variety of seasonal ales in bottle, including barrel-aged beers, and more canned craft beers utilizing a new canning line.
