Portland Japanese Garden
The most beautiful and authentic Japanese garden outside of Japan.
Nestled in the hills of Portland's iconic Washington Park, the Portland Japanese Garden spans 12.5 acres and features eight distinct garden styles, including an authentic Japanese Tea House. Designed in 1963, it offers visitors a serene escape with meandering streams, intimate walkways, and breathtaking views of Mt. Hood. The garden serves as a peaceful retreat, fostering a connection to nature and cultural exchange. The mission of the Portland Japanese Garden is to inspire harmony and peace through the expression of Japanese culture and aesthetics. It emphasizes environmental sustainability and mutual respect within the community. As an independent nonprofit organization, it relies on contributions to support its operations and continues to welcome visitors from all walks of life.
